My boyfriend is in the National Guard here in Georgia while he goes to college! He has been in for three years now and with that comes A LOT of stuff! The main problem he has is keeping all of his patches in one spot. They usually just end up on the floor or lost on another uniform or even eaten by the dryer when he forgets to take them off! So I started thinking about ways that I could help this situation and this is what I came up with!
I started with a picture frame, some felt I got from Hobby Lobby, and two rolls of self adhesive Velcro (I ended up putting a third strip of Velcro on so that the patches would all fit!).
First I took out the picture of the inside out as well as the mat that was in the frame. The felt was the perfect length but I had to measure a piece to add onto the bottom and cut it with a pair of kitchen scissors.
There is a seam where the two felts don't match up perfectly but don't worry! It won't look like that for long! Next, I took the Velcro out of the package and had to lay it out under a heavy box so that it would flatten out enough to put on the frame. Once I got it relatively flat I went ahead and pressed the "fuzzy" side of the Velcro down onto the frame. It sticks on great!
See! The seam is gone! After I had the patches I realized we needed more room and added another strip of Velcro in the middle! It looks awesome and he actually uses it! It was definitely worth every penny!
